FirstEdit is built for organizations that handle sensitive, regulated, or confidential content. This page explains exactly what happens to your documents — and what doesn't.
These are the principles that govern every document that passes through FirstEdit.
Everything is automated. No person at Intelligent Editing (or any other organization) sees your content at any point.
All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Your content is protected from the moment it leaves your system to the moment results are returned.
Once FirstEdit has completed its check, your original document is removed from all servers. The original text is never retained, cached, or stored permanently.
Your content is never used to train external AI models. Your documents are never shared with, or used to benefit, any third party.
The practical implementation behind our security commitments. This information will expand as FirstEdit moves through its audit process.
Your content is never used to train external AI models. We use Microsoft Azure models to make sure that everything you send is secure and is never supplied to OpenAI, Anthropic, or other creators of artificial intelligence models.
If you make any corrections to FirstEdit's suggestions then we may ask your permission to learn from that. We treat that permission carefully:
You do. FirstEdit makes no claim over your documents, the edits it suggests, or any outputs it produces. Your content remains entirely yours at every stage of processing. We do not use, licence, or share it in any form.
FirstEdit does not keep your documents. Once a check with FirstEdit is complete, your original document is deleted from all servers immediately.
The text that FirstEdit provides for you is removed from our servers immediately if you are working in plain text (whether that's through the browser or through the API).
Where a new document is created for you by FirstEdit, then we keep that for up to 24 hours so you can download it. Then it is removed completely.
There's no situation in which your documents are kept for more than 24 hours. That's true for all document types and all users.
SOC 2 is an independent security audit standard for software companies. It verifies that an organization has the controls in place to protect customer data. It is widely required by enterprise procurement teams as a condition of purchase.
FirstEdit is currently undergoing a SOC 2 Type II audit. Type II is the more rigorous of the two levels. It tests not just whether security controls exist, but whether they work reliably over time.
If you need to discuss your organization's security requirements ahead of certification, please contact us.
